2021. A customer wanted a flight training device for a type we had never built.
We sat in the real aircraft. We photographed every panel and every switch. We read the manuals. Then we wrote the software: glass cockpit, flight management, autopilot, systems logic, instructor station.
Six months. The software was flying before the hardware was finished. It waited.
Part of those months went by in a quarantine hotel in Jakarta. Notebook on the desk, the software on the screen.
A new aircraft is data and logic on a base that has flown since 1999. That is why six months is enough.
That is rapid prototyping for flight training devices: a new aircraft, a working simulator, in months.
