Changes to the RCDU Software todo: formatting changes, checking of LSK to scratchpad Build 86 - release Build 85 - dep runway selection on DEP/ARR wasn't working, fixed - battery handling for Engravity added - RCDU Extension: Setting bit 6 of the high byte, using the same rules as above, you can send keyboard commands to the RCDU. E.g. Sending “A” to the CDU is value 65, to the RCDU it is (256 * 2^6) + 65 = 256 * 64 + 65 = 16449 (this command will then of course be ignored by the CDU) Updated 14-12-2006 Build 84 - release Build 83 - problems with LSKs in DEP ARR corrected - update frequency corrected Build 81 - power off command for Engravity CDU added Build 76 - first release with Engravity CDU hardware support (make sure COM port is different from main CDU) Build 75 - (b) added openglfullspacing parameter to INI file - (a) first OpenGL implementation please check CDUChanges.txt for detals - it can be enabled with Ctrl-O or Ctrl-Shift-O for Full Screen Display Build 74 - RCDU did not blank complerely when its 0x510 bit was set Build 71 - some text display changes - RCDU reads 0x510 (electrical systems inop) bit 0 (all) and bit 10 (RCDU only) Build 70 - changed DLL, new NetDir Method added - changed transfer files extensions Build 63 - corrected problem caused by main CDU DLL update Build 62 - font bold and not bold can be selected again Build 61 - new DLL - removed trace which may have caused problems Build 60 - added new CDU fonts Build 55 - added FS path check - added Keyboard Lights handling for XP Build 51 - added new keys from CDU - startup sequence changed - new DLL Build 41 - allowing change of brightness display to be more direct - new DLL release - some small optimisations Build 37 - corrected possible error caused by a wrong path - rcdu exits independently Build 35 - Init Error corrected Build 34 - corrected Startup error which caused some occasional confusion for the Master CDU Build 33 - changed timing - changed positioning Build 25 (first release, beta) Basics ====== The Remote CDU (RCDU) is not part of a fully redundant system, it connects to the main CDU, any Project Magenta CDU (Build 294 or later). The pages are generated there and transferred via the NetDir. To set up the NetDir, you can do it either in the old way (edit RCDU.INI manually and enter it there) or, on the main CDU, go to INIT/REF, MAINT, NETDIR (LSK 5R) and have it created automatically) Connecting to the main CDU ========================== The connection to the main CDU is established automatically. It is not important whether the RCDU is running on a networked computer or on the same computer as the main CDU, it is also irrelevant which one is started first. Once FS and both CDUs (main and remote) are running, and the NetDir is set up correctly, they will connect automatically. When one CDU stops running, it will inform the other one right away. In the case of the Remote CDU, the screen will turn blank. The operation of the Remote CDU is identical to using the single FMC system.
